A Busy Kidding Season

Writer's picture: Crystal BurmanCrystal Burman

It's been a busy year so far! We've been having fun with all of the amazing joyous acres babies that were born just a few months ago. Just a summary of the last few months:

  • Nellie Joy started the kidding season with two beautiful doelings on 5/4/2024. We named her babies Butterscotch and MoonPie. Butterscoth has the blue eyes and MoonPie has the moonspots.. They both have the most wonderful personalities and love attention. MoonPie's face looks a lot on her daddy's.

  • Nibble's Joy was next kidding her two doelings. Both were polled and the black one has blue eyes, the other has a heavy white overlay. Both are super affectionate and fun.

  • Willow then went on to have her two babies, one doeling and one buckling on 5/25/2024. They both have heavy white over lay and have gorgeous markings. Butternuts, the buckling has blue eyes.

  • A few weeks into all of our fun, MoonPie unfortunately broke her leg. She had this hay feeder she loved to jump in and lie down and just munch on her hay. One evening around 9:30pm my husband found her dangling by her leg upside down caught in her feeder!!! She must have tried to jump out and her leg got caught. We had the ER Vet come out and put her in a cast. She can get it off after July 6th and we are praying it has healed up successfully and that she will be fine. It surely was a scary ordeal for us. First broken leg on the farm and we've learned a lot!

All babies are spoken for and will be leaving us within a few months. We've had a great deal of fun and joy tending to and raising these little rugrats. I will miss them but I know they are going to good and loving homes.

Joyous Hugs,

Crystal
